Sports – ah simply mentioning the word gets your blood going, doesn’t it? All things sports have been around forever. I wonder if cave men used to arm wrestle? Then as soon as they discovered they could run, jump, climb, pull or swim, they would have to have contests to just who was best at all those skills. I’m an authority on this subject because I grew up watching the Flintstones!
Seriously, though, these contests would, no doubt become intertribal events of some kind. Events that these folks began to look forward to. Talented participants probably competed far into maturity. And so today we still live vicariously through our favorite teams and atheletes. We “root” for those near and dear to us while traveling great distances to support our favorite teams and players. We even share in their celebrations, challenges and dissapointments. Then, we lend our support in a variety of ways.
